THE MISSIONS OF THE CVMF:
The CVMF VISION is to be accomplished through three missions:
. To promote animal disaster preparedness and response in Connecticut;
. To promote the human/companion animal bond;
. To promote the profession of veterinary medicine.
Disaster Preparedness: Through the provision of leadership and fundraising support to the Connecticut State Animal Response Team (CTSART), CVMF will develop, administer and promote animal disaster preparedness and response throughout Connecticut. CVMF will participate in and sponsor emergency preparedness/disaster recovery programs at veterinary conferences.
The Human-Companion Animal Bond: To promote recognition of companion animals, particularly those animals which save lives, prevent injury, or enrich the human spirit through therapy or service programs. The Pet Sympathy Card program created on behalf of the veterinary community promotes the human-animal bond with all clients. CVMF will also seek funding for necessary veterinary medical care for service animals of those with special needs.
The Profession of Veterinary Medicine: The Foundation will promote the veterinary medical profession through support of academic institutions engaged in biomedical research as well as through educational outreach to the public and the profession.
